Process Design Engineer
Location: Utrecht, Padualaan, Netherlands | Semi-remote
Employment: Full-time (at least 2 days a week)

- Are you passionate about sustainability and technology development and excited about working in a ClimateTech startup?
- Have you finished a PhD in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering focusing on carbon capture or equivalent fields?
- Or have you completed an engineering MSc degree with at least three years of working experience in a research and development role on carbon capture technology or equivalent fields?
- As a Process Design Engineer, you will work closely with our core team of engineers and scientists to develop models describing the behavior of a gas-solid contact reactor, utilizing computational modeling for fluid dynamics analysis, identifying optimizations, and translating these improvements into our novel direct air capture technology at an industrial scale.

We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Process Design Engineer to optimize our sorbent efficiency through the design and engineering of a gas-solid contactor.

Things you'll be working on
- Develop models describing gas-solid reactor behaviour and reaction mechanisms
- Develop models for fluid dynamics analysis and predict both sorbent and gas efficiency
- Identify inefficiencies and propose optimizations in current designs in the form of equipment drawings and operation philosophy
- Collaborate with internal teams and external experts for specialized modelling tasks
- Document all design processes, simulation outcomes, and optimization strategies
- Translate the technological improvements into features to be added to future generations of the direct air capture process
Requirements
- You are a proactive self-starter, adaptable, and can work independently
- You have a PhD in chemical or mechanical engineering focused on carbon capture technology or equivalent
- OR a MSc in chemical or mechanical engineering and at least three years of working experience in a research and development role on carbon capture technology or equivalent fields
- You are located in the Netherlands and able to work from the office in Utrecht at least 2 days a week
- You have a work permit for the Netherlands or are eligible to obtain one
- You are fluent in English
